Looking for monitor above 19"
So... I'm looking around for a new monitor which appears to be mission impossible
Wide screens are absolute "no-no" and I'm trying to avoid them at any cost since they are nothing compared to old 4:3. However the market for 4:3 over 19"... basically doesn't exist? There are few 21" Eizos on the market but the cost is like omg
Is there something wrong with 19"+ 4:3 flat screens or am I looking at wrong resellers?

Why do you hate widescreens? You see more, have bigger HUDs and you can watch movies easier without those big black bars.

I love wide screen and have been using them over almost three years. There are a few old games that don't support them but there is a web site (isn't there always?) that can help with that. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com....php/Main_Page
Back to your question, looking at Pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com/monitors/) I see some 4:3 monitors over 19 inches. Are you looking to just go down the the local store and buy it?

The market for non-widescreen monitors has vaporized. Why would you not want a widescreen anyway? Anything that you do that you prefer to do in a 4:3 aspect ratio can still be done on a 16:9 ratio with space left over on the sides.
Just go for a widescreen that has the same overall screen height as a 19" 4:3 ratio.
The original 4:3 ratio just came about because computer monitors originally used the same CRTs and electronics as TVs, which are 4:3. There is no special benefit to a 4:3 ratio. It's time for you to join the 21st century where even the TVs are 16:9 now.

Widescreen does not = stretched image. Where did you ever get that idea. I don't see any stretched images.
The only software that might have problems would be some old games that play full screen and don't have widescreen resolutions. They'd have to be very old - even Half-Life supports widescreen.
Any software that runs in a window is not going to be stretched.
About the only thing that might be stretched would be your old wallpapers. Get new wallpapers, or set them to "centered" or edit them with any graphic editor to add bars or crop them.
16:9 is now "normal ratio" - 4:3 is last century's "normal"

Also, some of the games that did not have wide screen support in the last few years added it in the first patch (Rainbow Six Vegas for example) - I can't think of very many games in the last 5 years that don't have wide screen support.

There are normal ratio lcd's out there but it's pretty hard to pick up any yet you can check places like best buy (they usually have a display area) or go to ebay, craig's list or newegg. Also if you know a shop that sells computer parts and hardware, ask the people if they have anything, sometimes they might be able to order one.

If you would be so kind as to check out the site I previously mentioned you will find that almost every game since 2003 supports wide screens in some way. As for wallpapers, You can always edit them for 16:9. Personally, I don't like using wallpapers. Desktop icons on top of wallpaper normally equals nasty eye sores (shutters).

There's something you should know about modern widescreen LCD monitors that noone has mentioned yet. Most of them, or most of them that aren't poor, very low end models atleast, usually have a form of something called Aspect Ratio Control. Which, to put it simply, takes that 4:3 image of a game or other fullscreen software that doesn't support widescreen and keeps it from being stretched. The method the monitor uses may vary, but they all get the same result. A proper 4:3 image when you absolutely need it.

Without knowing the exact model of Samsung, I don't know what say. I've never had a monitor, Samsung or otherwise, where the you couldn't adjust the settings. There are some that "lock" the settings so they can't be accidentally changed, but there's always a way to unlock them, somewhere in the menus.
RTFM.

Hey guys I got a question about cleaning lcd screens. What do you use to clean your lcd without damaging it? Also it would be cool if it could be household stuff.
